Chile is one of the most advanced emerging countries in the world. It was the first country in South America to join the OECD in 2010 and is one of the world's most open economies to international trade of goods and services. It has had a strong capital market development, which is dominated by well-regulated institutions.

Since the end of 2019 it has faced important challenges: First, social unrest that resulted in the beginning of a process of writing a new constitution to adequately respond to the new reality of a dynamic and vibrant democracy, and a very deep recession caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. However, the recovery from this recession has been one of the fastest in the world, supported by the most expansionary fiscal and monetary policies in LATAM.

Looking ahead, we foresee a capital market that must adjust to a new reality of higher interest rates, but which will continue to be supported by a very solid macro-institutional framework. Thus, this market will continue to offer relevant opportunities for investors.
